The 1987 Rod Hall Signature Edition Truck was based on the Power Ram W150 short bed pickup. The Signature package was added only after the truck is ordered with required options. These include a 360 engine with a four-barrel carburetor (California, got stuck with the 318)..
Few Signatures were produced with a manual four-speed transmission. The transfer case is a New Process 208 model with a 2.61:1 low gear, 3.21:1 axles, rear anti spin differential, heavy-duty front springs, rated at 1800 pounds (front) and 1820 pounds (rear). Other options include an oil cooler, aluminum rib wheels, skid plate, a larger cooling system, grille guard, light bar and Uniroyal-Goodrich 31x10.50 radial aII terrain tires.
Three colors of the Signature Edition were available-white, black and red. The graphic package features multicolor yellow/orange/red accent stripes that were similar to Hall's race truck at that time. The truck also has Rodís insignia on the front windshield. The truck comes with lower body molding and included an anti chip urethane coating on the lower body sides. Accents on the trucks were hood pins; a black steel tubular grille guard fitted with two lights and a light bar with tabs to add more.
The interior trim options were limited and only two interior colors were available: red and almond. As a Signature requirement, there is color-keyed carpeting on the floor and lower door panels.
